Hi there! My name is Tara, and I'm the Macbook & tablet behind the designs at Creole Paperie!
I'm a Southern wife and mom with a love for all things design and stationery. Lover of Jesus, football, cupcakes, Macs, and sweet tea.
Design is the last thing I thought I would be doing. I graduated from college with a B.S. in finance and plunged headfirst into the corporate world. It didn't take very long for me to realize corporate America isn't the place for me!
During this time my graphic designer/photographer husband (opposites attract, right?) started showing me the ropes of Photoshop. I think he mainly wanted me to start digital scrapbooking so I'd quit spending so much money in the scrapbook aisle at Hobby Lobby! :)
I quickly fell in love with the new creativity Photoshop offered. I switched over to digital scrapbooking. Over the next several years I learned even more about Photoshop and then ventured into Illustrator. Now I love Illustrator even more than Photoshop!
I started designing cards and invitations for friends and realized that creating for others was something I really enjoyed doing. Then I tried my hand at making illustrations for my scrapbooking. It's been history since then.
I have been married to my best friend and love of my life for almost 9 years. We were friends for three years and I thought he was leaving for the mission field (which he ended up not doing) and therefore thought we never had a chance. Then we both realized as he graduated college and left for the real world that we couldn't live without each other. Within 3 months we were dating. Two months later he proposed. Three months later we were married. Three years later we had our precious daughter who is the light of our lives.
We are currently in the Big Easy while my husband completes his Masters of Divinity in Christian Apologetics. I spend my days teaching my little girl, who is brilliant beyond her years. She keeps me so busy but I would not have it any other way. I love seeing her grow and change, even though the rate at which time is passing makes my heart hurt. :)
Things I love: our amazing church and friends we've made there, anything fleur de lis, cooking, sampling cupcakes, the Saints (Who Dat!!!), football in general, playing Wii with my family, Arrested Development & LOST, Dr. Pepper & sweet tea, flip flops, comfy beds, planners & organizers, traveling, planning parties, Pinterest, Sonic Happy Hour, thunderstorms, eschatology, king cakes, Spanish moss on trees, Jeopardy, autumn, crawfish & shrimp boils, hugs & kisses from my sweet girl, beignets with friends, Angry Birds, Target, staying up late and sleeping in, books that make me think & cry, and playing a no-holds-barred game of canasta with my parents (we get brutal!).
Things I don't love: when people drive like jerks, mushrooms, oysters (blech!), heat & humidity, handling raw chicken (blech!), when my contacts get that itchy feeling, sinus infections, when people make Jesus about religion rather than relationship, washing dishes, red bug bites, scary movies, talking on the phone, stores that don't have self-checkouts, and having to pee as soon as I wake up, which means I won't be able to fall back asleep.
So now that you have my backstory (and a little lagniappe), welcome and bienvenue to my little corner of the internet! :)
